Bay Window Shutters will help show off your bay’s original features; filtering light levels on all sides and create an effect that can look so dramatic and transformative or subtle, everyone will think you’ve restyled the room.
At last, your bay windows can be free from curtain tracks and fiddly blinds cords; replaced with elegant shutter panels that can simply be tilted to avoid the glare of the sun or add extra privacy.
Bay Window Shutter FAQ's
Shutter blinds are usually constructed from wood, ranging from luxury hardwoods to durable engineered woods like MDF. Other material options are available like PVC and ABS plastics. These materials are usually recommended for bathrooms and other wet areas in the home.
Bay Window Shutters have a unique angled frame designed to fit the exact measurements of your bay window. Once this frame is attached to the window recess, the shutter panels hang off this frame and not the window frame itself.
The short answer is yes. In over 15 years supplying and fitting shutter blinds, we’ve never found a bay window that couldn’t have shutters fitted precisely. In fact, there are three main types of bay windows found in British homes, and all of them can be covered with stylish wood shutters.
A regular bay window has 3 panels (one for each window). The number of shutter doors is determined by the size of the individual panels. If the angles of the bay are 90 degrees, this is sometimes referred to as a “Box Bay” window.
If you have a “bow bay” window with more than 3 panels you may need to upgrade to a lighter material to support more shutter doors.
Finally, an “L shape” bay window has just two panels. This is usually treated the same as a regular bay window.
